13-year-old boy attacks underage sister after watching porn; family allegedly involved in cover-up

In Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, a 13-year-old boy is accused by police of raping and killing his nine-year-old sister in a gruesome incident. The horrific tragedy reportedly took place on April 24. The accused brother reportedly sexually abused her after she watched a pornographic film.

After an extensive questioning of the accused and 50 interviews with police, the accused brother, his mother and his sisters, aged 17 and 18, were detained by police while the case is being investigated, officials said in a statement on Saturday.

“On April 24, a nine-year-old girl was raped and strangled to death within the premises of Jawa police station. The police registered the case and launched an investigation,” Police Commissioner Vivek Singh said, according to a media source.

“The victim’s body was recovered from the courtyard of her house where she was sleeping at the time of the incident,” he said.

It was also discovered that the accused boy had spent the night next to her.

When the victim later threatened to tell his father, the boy strangled her. After the accused told his mother, she realised that the victim was still alive. Singh claimed that the accused strangled her again when he realised.

His two older sisters also woke up and moved their beds before telling police to hinder the investigation. But after repeated questioning, they finally admitted their wrongdoing, he claimed.

The teenager, his two sisters and their mother were arrested. Legal action will be taken, the official said.

“The police received information on the morning of April 24 that the girl’s body was lying in the courtyard of the house. Evidence of rape and murder was found in the post-mortem report and an SIT team was formed for investigation,” Singh said.

He claimed that family members told police that the girl died from the sting of a poisonous insect in order to deceive investigators.

According to the investigation, no one was seen entering the apartment and family members denied hearing any noise at all during the night, he added.

“After collecting technical evidence and interrogating 50 people, the police found that the statements of the family members had been altered several times. Based on suspicion, they were interrogated intensively, after which they confessed to the crime,” the SP said.
