Explosives found in house in Kuna, man arrested

Tyson Jardine, 37, of Kuna was arrested after officers found explosives in his home.

BOISE, Idaho – A Kuna man was arrested for possession of “explosive material,” the Ada County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) said.

On July 24, Kuna police were dispatched to a home near E. 4th Street and Orchard Avenue in Kuna for reports of suspicious activity. They began investigating and found possible explosive devices and many suspicious chemicals in the garage of the home, ACSO said.

The Boise Police Department Bomb Disposal Squad examined the equipment and chemicals and confirmed that they were explosives.

ACSO reports that neighbors in the immediate area have been asked to evacuate.

Initial information indicated there was no threat to public safety of mass destruction. The resident of the home, Tyson Jardine, 37, has not been seen by friends or family in about two weeks, and officials believe Jardine is in the Pine/Featherville area of ​​Elmore County.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office ACTION Team and Ada Metro SWAT Team, with assistance from the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, located Jardine at a campground near Pine, the news release said.

Jardine backed into a Meridian Police Department armored vehicle and then crashed into the Ada Metro Bearcat armored vehicle, damaging both. Jardine was taken to the Elmore County Jail and had a firearm on him at the time of his arrest, ACSO said.

Jardine will be extradited to the Ada County Jail pending arraignment.
