Damar Hamlin highlights Bills’ Cup contenders ahead of 2024 season

Buffalo Bills training camp is in full swing and there will be plenty of new names vying for a spot on the roster. As Buffalo begins its journey to finally make the leap and reach the Super Bowl, these names will be battling for a spot at the training camp table.

WR Chase Claypool

Claypool is fighting for a roster spot, but perhaps also to save his NFL career. After two stellar seasons of over 800 yards to start his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Claypool was traded to the Chicago Bears where he caught just 18 passes in 10 games. He was eventually traded to the Miami Dolphins in 2023, catching just four passes in nine games. Buffalo could be his last chance to show that he can be a viable part of a receiving rotation. With a lot of new receivers on the roster, this is a fresh start for Claypool and Buffalo, which works in his favor.

OG Will Clapp

The Bills have a solid interior lineup. David Edwards, Connor McGovern and O’Cyrus Torrence are the likely starters on the interior. They also drafted La’el Collins and selected Sedrick Van Pran-Granger in the fifth round of the draft. With a solid starting group and two depth players already in place, Clapp will face an uphill battle.

S. Damar Hamlin

The Bills have several new safeties in the building. After Jordan Poyer was released and Micah Hyde was not recalled, Buffalo signed Mike Edwards from Kansas City and drafted Cole Bishop from Utah. They also re-signed Taylor Rapp and signed Dee Delaney from the Buccaneers. Hamlin only appeared in five games last season. And even then, he was on the field for only 17 defensive snaps. Hamlin will likely battle with Delaney for a roster spot, and I expect Delaney to win that battle.
