Man arrested on suspicion of murder after woman attacked while walking dog in Suffolk | UK news

According to police, 57-year-old Anita Rose remains in critical condition in hospital after suffering a serious head injury.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was attacked while walking her dog in Suffolk.

The victim, 57-year-old Anita Rose, is in critical condition after suffering a serious head injury, Suffolk police said.

She was found unconscious by a member of the public on a path near Rectory Lane in Brantham at around 6:25 a.m. on Wednesday.

Ms Rose was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where she continues to receive treatment.

Mrs Rose had left her house around 5 a.m. to walk her springer spaniel named Bruce.

On Friday, Suffolk Police released a picture of Ms Rose from the morning of the incident with a request to trace her mobile phone and a pink zip-up jacket.

A 45-year-old man from the Ipswich area was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently being questioned.

Police do not currently believe that the suspect was known to the victim.

Detective Superintendent Mike Brown said: “We are still trying to establish the exact circumstances that led to this incident, but our initial enquiries are already underway and will continue over the weekend.”

“We remain extremely grateful for the support the community and the media have given us so far.

“The support we receive is critical.”

Police presence in the area is expected to continue over the next few days, Det Supt Brown said, with officers conducting reassurance patrols, house-to-house searches, reviewing CCTV footage and continuing ongoing forensic work.
