Ayungin supplies “without incident”

(UPDATE) The Philippines said it conducted a rotation and replenishment (RoRe) of troops on a reef in the South China Sea on Saturday without “untoward incidents”, more than a month after a violent clash with Chinese forces in the area.

It said the mission to Ayungin (Second Thomas) Reef was the first since Manila and Beijing reached a “provisional agreement” earlier this month to supply basic necessities and rotation missions for Philippine troops stationed on the BRP Sierra Madre, a rusted warship that ran aground on the reef.
