One dead and several injured reported after accident involving two vehicles on motorway | Free

A two-vehicle crash at Mile 134 on the Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) left one dead and several injured, the Emporia Fire Department reported Saturday.

According to the Emporia Fire Department, emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after 3 p.m. and found a total of seven affected patients. One patient was pronounced dead at the scene. Five patients were taken to Newman Regional Health, one with life-threatening injuries, two with moderate injuries and two with minor injuries. One patient refused treatment at the scene.

The accident triggered a major operation by local emergency services, including three ambulances, an emergency vehicle and two emergency vehicles.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
