One dead and five injured in traffic accident near Emporia

WICHITA, Kansas (KSNW) – One person was killed and five injured in an accident on Interstate 335 near Emporia on Saturday.

The Emporia Fire Department said emergency crews were dispatched to mile marker 134 on I-335 to report the accident. Upon arrival, crews found a two-vehicle crash involving multiple patients.

According to the EFD, one person was pronounced dead at the scene and five others were taken to hospital. One of the five sustained life-threatening injuries, two sustained moderate injuries and two others sustained minor injuries.

One person refused treatment.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
