3 members of Nelons Gospel Group reportedly killed in plane crash in Campbell County

GILLETTE, Wyoming — A plane crash north of Gillette Friday afternoon reportedly killed three members of the popular musical group Nelon’s Gospel Group. Four other people also died in the incident.

The band members who died in the crash were Jason Clark, Kelly Nelon Clark and Amber Kistler. According to a New York Times report, Kistler’s husband Nathan and band assistant Melodi Hodges were also killed, as were pilot Larry Haynie and Haynie’s wife Melissa.

According to a statement from Gaither Management Group, which represents the band, the band was en route to a performance on a cruise ship that was scheduled to depart today.

After the crash, a forest fire broke out in the area, which rescue workers fought from all sides and contained with aircraft and heavy equipment.
