Kearney Police Department Releases Statement on Buffalo County Fairgrounds Video

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – The Kearney Police Department released a statement regarding the use of force at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds on Thursday.

According to Kulture Police, an arrest has been made in connection with a man involved in a reported physical disturbance and assault at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds. A video of the incident has been circulating on social media, in connection with the arrest.

“In accordance with Kearney Police Department policy, any response to resistance by a member of the Kearney Police Department, which includes the use of force to effect a lawful arrest of a subject, is carefully considered,” said Chief Bryan Waugh. “Our officers are trained to use the least amount of force possible to effect a lawful arrest, while defending themselves and others. I have confidence in our professional police officers and the process we have in place to achieve this goal.”

The KPD said the incident was captured on multiple officers’ body cameras. The video and incident will be reviewed by the chain of command.

No additional information is known about the incident. Local 4 has reached out to KPD for additional information but has not yet received a response.
