Bruce Campbell promises a bright future for the Evil Dead series

Similar to the Deadites, the evil Dead Franchise is hard to suppress. The man who is forever associated with the evil Dead Movies, Bruce Campbell, recently announced an exciting update on the future of the property and it includes more films and an animated series.




After a very successful theatrical release of the fifth film in the series last year, Evil Dead – Rise of the Deadthe series seems stronger than ever, so it’s no wonder Campbell confirmed that more evil Dead Projects are on the way. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Campbell shared what the future holds for the franchise.The future is two more damn moviessaid Campbell. “We have two great new directors who have two new scripts in the works, and we think we got a studio to spend money on both, since they still seem to be making money.” The latest film, Evil Dead – Rise of the Deadwas an extremely successful film. It grossed $147 million, making it the highest-grossing film in the series.

Campbell, who plays chainsaw-wielding Ash Williams in three films evil Dead Movies and the TV show Ash vs Evil Deadis as surprised as some fans that the franchise continues to thrive. The first few films, while cult, were low-budget gre-fests that were popular with horror fans but were never cash cows. The franchise seems to have become more popular over time, and Campbell says Hollywood has noticed.They are cheap, so have to earn so much – but now that they are making real money, it is somehow hard to look awaysaid Campbell. “And we want to do it – the last time was 10 years ago, Fede (Álvarez’s reboot) was in 2013! So we want to have a little bit more contact with the people who are still following it and want to see it. They want to see it in the new incarnation!”

Campbell was not in a evil Dead Film since Army of Darknessbut returned as Ash for television. Campbell returned to the franchise for Ash vs Evil Deadwhich ran for three seasons. The series retained much of the silliness of the Sam Raimi-directed films, but also did an excellent job of expanding the lore. After the series was unfortunately canceled, many fans wondered if Campbell would return as Ash or if Raimi would direct another film in the future. However, Campbell confirms that the two are happy to produce the future projects without having to bear the burden of directing or starring in another film.

A second Evil Dead spinoff film is in the works, confirms Sam Raimi

The new Evil Dead spinoff is in development alongside the previously announced spinoff, which will be directed and co-written by Sébastien Vaniček.


We’re out of the cabin, Sam (Raimi) doesn’t have to direct, I don’t have to play Ashsaid Campbell. “The trick is to take the elements that people like, which are innocent people being tortured by a malicious entity and people who don’t have the skills to stop it.”

Although it seems highly unlikely that Campbell will not return as Ash in a live-action film, he shared that an animated evil Dead series is in the works and he will lend his voice to the show.”We are developing an animated version, like a series. That’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to do Ash’s voice all day long because my voice hasn’t aged like I have.” As for the two new films, it has been reported that director Sébastien Vaniček will direct one of the films, while Francis Galluppi will write and direct his own spin-off film. There are currently no official release dates for the two films.
