Utica man charged after domestic knife incident


UTICA, New York: The best pages of thousands of hotels near UTICA – A domestic dispute led to the arrest of 31-year-old Kevin Monroe of Utica early Friday morning. Monroe faces several charges, including illegal possession of a firearm, menacing and criminal damage to property.

The incident occurred around 12:55 a.m. at a residence in the 2100 block of Erie St. Utica police were called to the scene after reports of a domestic altercation involving an intoxicated man armed with a knife.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who reported that during a verbal argument, Monroe took out a knife and repeatedly stabbed the couch while the victim was sitting on it. Fearing for his safety, the victim contacted police.

Monroe was found by officers in his bedroom and arrested without incident. After the investigation, he was transported to the Utica Police Department where he was charged with third-degree illegal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing, and fourth-degree criminal damage to property.

  • Arrest after incident of road rage in Hockessin

    HOCKESSIN, DE – Delaware State Police arrested Steven Wright, 37, of Wilmington, on charges including aggravated menacing following a road rage incident Sunday evening. The altercation involved two minivans and occurred near the intersection of Limestone Road and Brackenville Road.

    On Sunday at around 7:17 p.m., police officers were called to a reported accident in the area. En route, they received information about an incident of aggression between a white Chevrolet Uplander, driven by Wright, and a black Chrysler Voyager. Wright allegedly brandished a black handgun several times during the incident.

    Both vehicles ended up at the scene of the crash, where Wright was arrested without incident. A search of Wright’s vehicle found a loaded handgun in a bag between the seats. Wright had previously displayed the weapon upon arrival at a local party, following the Chrysler as it drove away.

    The driver of the Chrysler, a 23-year-old man, was unaware of Wright’s motive for following him. Wright reportedly drove recklessly and braked abruptly, causing a collision with the Chrysler, which stopped when it spotted firefighters.

    Wright, a convicted felon, was found to be prohibited from possessing firearms. He was transported to Troop 2, charged with several misdemeanors, and held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $32,600 bail. No injuries were reported in the incident.

  • Long Beach men arrested for drug trafficking from auto upholstery business

    LOS ANGELES – Hector Valle, 48, and Efren Sanchez, 52, both of Long Beach, were arrested today on charges of operating a drug trafficking operation out of an auto upholstery business in Gardena. The duo faces 11 counts of distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine and firearms violations.

    Valle and Sanchez were arrested this morning and are scheduled to be arraigned today in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles. The charges include conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine and illegal possession of a firearm. Valle also faces additional charges related to cocaine trafficking and possession of a firearm during a drug offense.

    U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada highlighted the danger of fentanyl trafficking and praised the FBI and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office for their role in eliminating these substances and firearms from the population.

    The indictment, issued by a grand jury on July 17, alleges that the defendant sold significant quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl on June 9, 2023. Searches at three locations resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of drugs, including over 31 pounds of fentanyl, as well as firearms.

    The operation was allegedly carried out from Valle’s business, Stitchn’ Time, where drugs were found in a vending machine. Conviction on all counts could result in life sentences for both defendants, with a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years.
