Man arrested for raping 6-year-old girl in Thane

Thane (Maharashtra) (India), September 18 (ANI): Thane police on Friday arrested a man for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl in Thane district of Maharashtra.

According to police, the victim was raped by her maternal uncle on September 13 while she was alone in his house.

“The victim went to her maternal uncle’s house to play. When her uncle found her alone at home, he raped her. When she returned home the same day, she did not inform anyone about the incident as the girl was scared. However, the next day, she told her mother about the incident when her mother asked her to,” police said.

The victim’s family immediately reached the nearest Hill Line police station in Thane and filed a complaint against the accused under Section 376 and the POCSO Act.

The accused was arrested and produced before the court on Friday. The court later remanded him in police custody till September 18. (ANI)
