Houston Fire Department responds to ‘ground collapse’ at Memorial District condo community on Sutherland Terrace Place

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Several homes were evacuated Saturday due to what authorities called a ground collapse in a condominium community in the Memorial neighborhood.

Houston Fire Department crews responded to the incident at 405 Sutherland Terrace Place around 8:30 a.m.

The department shared the following images of the collapse.

A total of eight homes were evacuated as a precaution, the HFD said.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

Building engineers are assessing the damage, but firefighters believe rain may have contributed to the collapse.
