Quarterbacks ignite early in Atlanta Falcons training camp

There is a fine line between believing what you see on the training field and taking it with a grain of salt. While many are quick to say that “it’s just practice,” there are still many lessons to be learned from the reports coming out of training camp.

One of the things you can often look for is the accuracy of your quarterback. Beautiful and accurate throws will allow you to be successful at any point in the NFL schedule.

Good news! It looks like both new quarterbacks are tearing it up in Atlanta Falcons training camp. This is in complete contrast to everything we’ve heard at this point last year.

On the second day of training camp, the Atlanta Falcons switched tactics with their two star quarterbacks. Starter Kirk Cousins ran against the second-team defense while the team’s future, Michael Penix Jr., faced the first-team defense.

They both scored a clean sheet by handling the ball effectively.

Factoring in drops, both passers went 25 for 28 with a few deep darts.

What more do you want to hear? With a quality quarterback last year, the Falcons could have made the playoffs. With the rest of the division not improving or improving very slightly, Atlanta has a good chance of winning a division title and making the playoffs.

Creating more explosive plays is key. It’s exciting to hear that Cousins and Penix both had 50-yard touchdown passes down the field. The additions of Rondale Moore and Darnell Mooney already seem to be paying off.

The bad news is that players have lost ground and the first team defense has struggled to stop the substitutes. Hopefully everything will even out as we get closer to the regular season.
