After hit-and-run in Millcreek, police ask the public for help

SALT LAKE CITY – Police are asking the public for help in identifying three vehicles seen near the scene of a hit-and-run crash in Millcreek on Saturday.

The Greater Salt Lake Unified Police Department said in a news release that the accident occurred at approximately 5:56 a.m. at the corner of 2300 East and 3051 South.

According to police, a driver stopped his vehicle after hitting a cat. The driver had just gotten out to help the cat when it was hit by another vehicle. Police said the person who was hit is currently in critical condition.

“Based on the information available, a Black Box type SUV may have stopped behind this vehicle as the victim exited his vehicle to assist the cat,” the press release states. “It is possible that the driver or occupants of this SUV may have witnessed this individual being struck by another vehicle.”

Police are asking the public to view video taken near the incident to assist in identifying vehicles related to the investigation.

The video provided shows a roadway in the upper left corner. According to police, the first and second cars may have witnessed the accident. The third truck is the suspect vehicle, which appears to have something on the back of it.

The UPD is asking anyone who saw anything related to the Millcreek case to call 801-840-4000 and reference case number CO24-70166.
