Seven-year-old boy was found safe after U.S. Marshals arrested a wanted Ohio woman

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A woman with a violent past who went missing along with her son was arrested Thursday. Her son was found safe Friday morning.

Shadasia Gillyard, who is also accused of taking her seven-year-old son Kingston Gillyard, has been missing for about six weeks since a warrant was issued for her arrest on April 1. She was taken into custody Thursday, but her son remained behind. Columbus police say he is an endangered missing child.

Around 8 a.m. Friday, Columbus police confirmed the boy was safe.

Gillyard, who is not her son’s legal guardian, declined to provide Kingston’s whereabouts.

According to court records, Shadasia Gillyard faces multiple charges including aggravated threats, felonious assault, bail revocation for aggravated assault, intimidation of a witness and interference with custody. Gillyard reportedly sent several text messages to a man, telling him to drop the charges against her or she would kill him.

Her current charges of two counts of aggravated assault and improper discharge of a firearm will be heard at an arraignment hearing Friday in Franklin County Municipal Court.

According to police, on May 2 Gillyard and Talonzo Reid allegedly shot at and damaged the home of a man with whom Gillyard was in a custody dispute over Kingston Gillyard. Both were arrested Thursday based on police interviews, bullet casings found at the scene and video surveillance evidence from a car belonging to Talonzo.
