JUNCHENG SHANG VS JORDAN THOMPSON PREDICTION

Juncheng Chang and Jordan Thompson meet in the first semi-final in Atlanta, the two pairs having met three times before. It was Shang who won 6-2 6-3 in Indian Wells. Thompson won the previous one in 2022, but Shang prevailed 2-1.

Thompson fought back to win in three sets against Alejandro Davidovich in the quarterfinals on Friday after serving 21 aces. However, he will have to be a little more ruthless after taking two of his 14 break points.

Shang played exceptionally well to beat the talented Ben Shelton 7-6 6-4 in his quarter-final. He handled Shelton’s serve and despite a first serve percentage of just 55%, his first and second serve winning percentages were an impressive 72% and 75% respectively – the latter being key to his victory. He will need to do the same here and handle Thompson’s serve to win this match.

Both players have paths to victory, but it will ultimately come down to who comes out on top when the going gets tough. There’s not much to choose from, and while we have a marginal preference for Shang, it’s over 2.5 sets that we prefer.
