Woman raped in horror attack as police cordon off area near Scottish school

A woman was raped in a sexual assault while police cordoned off an alley next to a Scottish high school.

Two officers are guarding the crime scene on Tinto Drive in Grangemouth, near Falkirk, following reports of a serious sexual assault on a 24-year-old woman.

The police have launched an investigation and the investigation is ongoing.

Residents initially reported police officers at the crime scene next to Grangemouth High School early this morning.

One person wrote on Facebook: “The alley next to Grangemouth High School is completely cordoned off. Hope everyone is OK?”

Another commented: “Way between the Houses and Grangemouth High School is blocked by police.

“There are two officers standing there and the sidewalk is cordoned off with tape.”

Someone else replied: “Passed Grangemouth Hugh School around 5am this morning and the police were there.

“They have blocked off the little alley.

“An officer told me it was an ongoing investigation.”

A Police Scottish spokesman said: “On Saturday 27 July, at around 1.15am, we received a report of the serious sexual assault of a 24-year-old woman near Tinto Drive, Grangemouth.

“Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting reference 0290 of 27 July 2024.”
