Man hits neighbor with gun and shoots her dog after asking her to turn down the music

A man is facing a slew of charges after he punched his neighbor in the face with a handgun and shot her dog after she asked him to turn the music down, according to police. It happened on July 20 on Elmwood Street in Port Vue, Allegheny County. John Lee Mack Jr., 27, was arrested after police arrived to find a woman lying next to her dead German Shepherd. The victim told police she was suffering from severe seizures and had issues with noise. According to court documents, the victim told police the suspect stopped his car near his home and played loud music. She asked him to turn the music down, but instead he turned it down, loudly, according to the victim. This went on for several minutes before the situation eventually escalated. Mack told police he was afraid the dog might attack him. Mack said the victim told the dog to “get him” and then he went into his house and got his gun, telling police he acted in self-defense. Mack faces charges including aggravated assault, terroristic threatening and aggravated cruelty to animals.
