Zhou summoned by Belgian race stewards over Verstappen incident

Zhou Guanyu was called to the F1 stewards after apparently obstructing Max Verstappen in Q1 at Spa-Francorchamps.

The Stake driver will start from the back of the grid for the Belgian Grand Prix after being eliminated early in qualifying, but he could face another penalty.

Towards the end of the session, the Chinese driver was seen blocking the Red Bull as Verstappen drove through Blanchimont on a push lap.

If found guilty, Zhou could be penalised with a three-place grid penalty. He set the slowest lap time in Q1, so a penalty will have little impact on his grid position – especially after Yuki Tsunoda’s 60-place grid penalty was imposed.

He and Verstappen will have to report to the race director at 6:00 p.m. local time. Verstappen will start from 11th place after his qualifying victory, but will be relegated ten places due to the use of a fifth combustion engine.
