Warmer air aloft will help keep showers and storms less frequent through the middle or end of next week. As August begins, highs will climb to near 80 degrees and heat index values will be back in the triple digits. Another broad ridge will form to the southeast and could bring a tropical wave closer to the Bahamas in about seven days. The likelihood of tropical development is low.
