Bushfires, accidents and fire alarms were among the emergency calls on Friday

The 38th On Friday, the largest wildfire of the year was reported in Indiana County.

The fire was reported last night at 11:34 p.m. on Park Road in Young Township. The Iselin and Coal Run fire departments were called to the fire. It is unknown how much damage was caused or how the fire started.

This was one of a handful of emergency calls reported by the Indiana County Emergency Services Center on Friday. The calls began at 10:06 a.m. with a carbon monoxide alarm on Osborn Street in New Florence in Westmoreland County. The Armagh Fire Department was dispatched to the scene. At 11:45 a.m., a fire alarm was sounded on Galinac Lane in Young Township. The Coal Run and Iselin fire departments were called to respond.

Indiana Fire Association members were very busy with two rescue calls and one car accident. The first rescue call occurred at 3:29 p.m. along Old Route 119 South in White Township. The second at 6:20 p.m. along Shelly Drive in White Township. The car accident occurred at 3:53 p.m. on South 6th Street in Indiana Borough, and firefighters were assisted by Indiana Borough Police and Citizens’ Ambulance. Details have not been released.
