Teenager rapes and murders 9-year-old sister after watching porn; mother and 2 sisters help cover up

Madhya Pradesh: After more than three months, police in Rewa have arrested a 13-year-old boy for the rape and murder of his nine-year-old sister. The boy’s mother and two older sisters were also arrested for allegedly helping to cover up the April 24 crime.

Police arrested them after intensive interrogation and questioning of nearly 50 people and on the basis of technical evidence. Investigation into the case revealed that the boy sexually assaulted her younger sister after she watched a porn video on her mobile phone and then killed her, news agency PTI reported.

After his mother and two older sisters found out about it, they helped him cover it up, police told PTI.

Giving details of the case, Police Commissioner Vivek Singh said, “On April 24, a nine-year-old girl was raped and strangled to death within the premises of Jawa police station. Subsequently, the police registered the case and initiated an investigation.”

The victim’s body was recovered in the courtyard of her house, where she was sleeping at the time.

After intensive interrogation of family members and collection of technical evidence, it was found that the victim’s own brother, who had slept next to her at night, had raped and murdered her after watching obscene videos on his mobile phone, Singh said.

The police officer also said that the boy strangled the victim after she threatened to tell her father about the sexual assault.

Family members tried to mislead the police

After allegedly committing the crime, the boy later woke up his mother and confided his life to her. When he found that the victim was still alive, the accused again strangled her, SP Singh said.

Meanwhile, his two older sisters had woken up and helped their brother and mother move the bed before informing the police to mislead the investigation.

They also told the police that the girl had died as a result of a poisonous insect bite.

“However, after repeated interrogations, they finally admitted their crime,” he said, adding that further legal action would be taken in the matter.

On April 24, the police received information that the girl’s body was in the yard of her house.

The autopsy report suggested rape and murder, and an SIT team was formed to investigate the case.

“The investigation revealed that there was no sign of anyone entering the house. Family members also denied hearing any noise during the night,” Singh said.

The SP further stated that the technical evidence and interrogation showed that the family members had repeatedly changed their statements.

“Due to the suspicion, they were interrogated intensively, after which they admitted to the crime,” the SP added.
