Officials remain at scene of security alert near Dungiven

According to police, a security alert is in place on the outskirts of Dungiven in County Londonderry.

Army and police bomb experts were at the scene of the alarm on Friday evening and were still there on Saturday morning.

Foreglen Road is closed at its junctions with Baranailt Road and Muldonagh Road and searches are underway in the surrounding fields.

Police said the area “will likely be closed for some time.”

There are barriers.

The public, including motorists, have been asked to avoid the area at this time.

There will be further updates in due course, police said.
