South Portland police are searching for two juvenile male suspects after responding to an attempted escape from Long Creek Juvenile Detention Center.

Police said they were called to Long Creek shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Friday because of the escape attempt.

“Minutes later, police responded to a separate report of a robbery with use of force and threat of a firearm in the parking lot of 10 Liberty Lane,” officers wrote in a press release. No weapon was seen at that time, officers say.

Police did not say whether the two young men, who fled in a white Honda Civic, had fled Long Creek. However, anyone who sees the vehicle should not approach and instead call 9-1-1.
