The coroner identifies a local man who died in a bicycle accident near the Boise Military Reserve

The Ada County Coroner’s Office identified a man who recently died while biking near the military reservation in Boise’s East End.

Robert Maynard, 70, of Boise, died after falling from his bicycle at the corner of Shenandoah and East Mortimer Drives around 3 p.m. on Feb. 19 while swerving to avoid a collision with a vehicle that had the right of way the Coroner’s Office and the Boise Police Department.

There was no evidence that the vehicle and bicyclist collided, Boise Police Department spokeswoman Haley Williams told the Idaho Statesman via email.

After the accident, paramedics took Maynard by ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Life-saving measures were performed at the hospital, but Maynard died of his injuries at 7:43 p.m. Thursday, the medical examiner’s office said.

The coroner’s office stated the cause of death was vertebral fractures with spinal cord injury and the manner of death was an accident.

No charges are pending, Williams said.
