Carthage boy killed in boating accident on Table Rock Lake

A six-year-old boy died in a boating accident on Table Rock Lake on Friday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 6-year-old male was riding a kneeboard towed by a 1999 Maxum open motorboat around 11 a.m. The boat was piloted by 31-year-old Bethany L. Roy of Carthage. The boat was on Table Rock Lake in Clevenger Cove, south of Hollister.

The boy fell off the kneeboard and when Roy tried to come back and pick him up, the boy swam to the stern of the ship and was caught by the ship’s propeller as the ship went backwards.

Taney County Deputy Coroner Elijah Goodwin pronounced the boy dead at 11:09 a.m. The body was taken to Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home in Branson.
