Roanoke man arrested after drug investigation that seized over 59 pounds of suspected methamphetamine

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports that a Roanoke man was one of two people arrested following a comprehensive drug investigation that resulted in the suspected possession of a significant amount of methamphetamine on Wednesday, July 24 (courtesy of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office).

ABINGDON, Va. (WFXR) – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports that a Roanoke man was one of two people arrested following a comprehensive drug investigation that resulted in the suspected possession of a significant amount of methamphetamine on Wednesday, July 24.

According to the sheriff’s office, officers executed search warrants at two locations in Washington County as part of the investigation. The first search warrant was executed during a traffic stop, during which approximately four pounds of suspected methamphetamine and one ounce of suspected fentanyl were found in the vehicle.


The second search warrant was executed on a residence in Abingdon, where officers allegedly found and seized methamphetamine, fentanyl and a firearm.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports that search warrants were also obtained for a residence and storage unit in Roanoke and Salem. The warrants resulted in the seizure of 59 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $1.9 million.

Based on the search warrants, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department arrested Tyrone Robert Irving, 45, of Roanoke, and Brock Dalton Widener, 29, of Abingdon. They were charged with the following:

Irving:

  • Possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance, methamphetamine, with intent to distribute
  • Conspiracy with intent to distribute a Schedule I or II controlled substance, methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance, fentanyl, with intent to distribute
  • Possession with intent to commit a terrorist act Possession of a terrorist weapon, a controlled substance, fentanyl

Expander:

  • Possession of firearms while simultaneously possessing controlled substances on Schedule I or II
  • Possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance, methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance, fentanyl
  • Possession of firearms by a convicted felon

Both men are currently being held without bail at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority.
