July is coming to an end, but the heat is only getting hotter in Western New York State

(WKBW-TV) BUFFALO, N.Y. — July is coming to an end, but the heat is still lingering here in Western New York. July will be one of the 20 warmest months since records began in 1873.

What’s even more impressive is that this will be the eighth consecutive month with above-average temperatures. The last month Buffalo had cooler-than-normal temperatures was November of last year.

The climatological summer, considered to be the months of June, July and August, is also on track to rank among the hottest.

Of course, there’s still a lot of summer left, so these rankings are subject to change. From all the data I’ve seen, the heat will continue through the first half of August, so it’s more than likely that this summer will be the second or third hottest for Buffalo.
According to the Climate Prediction Center, there is a good chance that these temperatures will be above average.

Bottom line: Even though we see a brief respite from the approaching cold fronts, we’ll still need to keep our air conditioners on high!
