Police identify victim and suspect in southeast Austin murder investigation

AUSTIN (KXAN) – In an update Friday, Austin police released the identity of a man accused of stabbing and killing another man on Wednesday.

According to APD, 34-year-old Alex Trevino was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of 23-year-old Javier Antonio Navarro Quesada.

Police said this case will be investigated as Austin’s 36th homicide in 2024.

On the day of the incident, officers responded to a 911 call regarding a shooting/stabbing at 2101 Burton Drive. At the scene, emergency responders found Quesada with injuries consistent with a stab wound. Life-saving measures were administered, but Quesada was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation revealed that the dispute between Trevino and Quesada was due to a theft of the vehicle.
