2 people arrested in Palestine after chase in stolen vehicle

Palestinian police officials said the vehicle came to a stop near Lelia Street and Oxford Road and rammed several other vehicles on its way.

PALESTINE, Texas – Two people are in custody after escaping police in a stolen vehicle.

According to the Palestinian Police AuthorityAn officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle reported stolen in Anderson County at the intersection of Fifth and W. Oak Streets on Friday. The driver failed to stop, resulting in a chase.

Palestine Police officials said the vehicle came to a stop near Lelia Street and Oxford Road and struck several other vehicles along the way. The driver, whom police identified as 19-year-old Connor Victor Schwab of Palestine, ran off with groceries and left behind a firearm that was also reported stolen in Anderson County.

A passenger in the vehicle, Susannah Elaine Toudouze, 19, of Palestine, was arrested at the scene. Officers found suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the passenger compartment where Toudouze was sitting, as well as suspected cocaine in the back seat.

Schwab was later arrested near Shady Oaks Street and found with suspected ecstasy, police said.

Both individuals were booked into the Anderson County Jail. Schwab was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest, evading arrest with a vehicle, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, theft of a firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon, and three counts of accident involving vehicle damage >= $200. Toudouze was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
