The Logan County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating a minor volunteer counselor at a summer camp who is accused of raping an adult camp participant.

Twin Cedars Camp told News 9 that the counselor was a first-time volunteer and is no longer participating in the program in any capacity.

Twin Cedars issued a statement saying:

“We were recently notified of an allegation involving a Twin Cedars counselor and an adult camper. We take these allegations extremely seriously as the safety and well-being of our campers and counselors is our top priority in everything we do. We use a multi-step screening process for all volunteers who work in our programs to ensure they have been thoroughly vetted. In addition, we provide extensive safety training. The volunteer in question was a first-time volunteer and is no longer involved with our program in any capacity. We are fully cooperating with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and are conducting our own internal investigation.”

The Logan County Sheriff stated that he has submitted a rape charge to the Logan County District Attorney.

News 9 called the district attorney and asked if he planned to file charges. The prosecutor stated that he could not comment on the case because it involved a minor.
