Blue Jays recall right-handed relief pitcher Rodriguez from Buffalo

TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled pitcher Yerry Rodriguez from Triple-A Buffalo and activated him ahead of Friday’s game against the Texas Rangers.

In a corresponding move, Toronto sent pitcher Ryan Burr to Buffalo.

Rodriguez, a 26-year-old right-handed pitcher from the Dominican Republic, was traded to the Blue Jays by the Rangers in June in exchange for minor league pitcher Josh Mollerus.

Rodriguez has appeared in 12 MLB games this season, all with Texas, recording one win and a 6.88 ERA.

Burr made 10 appearances with the Blue Jays this year with a 5.40 ERA.

The Jays opened a three-game series against Texas on Friday after falling to 2-4 in the current home series with a 13-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday.
