Teenager dead, man injured in shooting in southwest Chicago

CHICAGO – A teenager died and a man was injured in a shooting Friday morning in southwest Chicago.

According to Chicago police, the shooting occurred around 10:40 a.m. Friday in the 2500 block of West 46th Street in the Brighton Park neighborhood.


According to investigators, a 16-year-old boy and a 40-year-old man were walking in the street when an SUV came into the area. Then someone got out of the SUV and shot both the teenager and the man.

According to CPD, the teen was shot in the head and chest and pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital. The man was shot in the chest and leg and taken to Mount Sinai in serious condition.

Area One detectives are currently investigating, but no further information has been released.
