Regina man charged with sexual assault and seduction of 16-year-old

A 50-year-old man from Regina has been charged with sexual assault and seduction of a 16-year-old.

According to a press release from the Regina Police Service (RPS), the investigation into allegations of sexual abuse of a minor began on July 16.

RPS received a report that a youth had been sexually assaulted by a man during the winter of 2022/2023. The investigation revealed that the man had met the youth online prior to the sexual assault, police said.

The man had asked the teenagers for sexually explicit photos and shared sexually explicit photos as part of their online communication.

Cary Harold Reid was located and arrested Wednesday and faces multiple charges, including sexual assault, providing sexually explicit material to a person under 18, obtaining sexual services for payment from a person under 18 and luring a person under 18 by means of telecommunications.

Reid appeared in court for the first time on Thursday afternoon.

There may be more victims, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
