WASHINGTON, DC – East Coast Congressman Andy Harris is speaking out as the investigation into the assassination of former President Donald Trump continues on Capitol Hill.

On Wednesday, members of Congress voted to create a task force to investigate the incident. Shortly after that vote, WMDT News caught up with Congressman Andy Harris to get his thoughts on the events of that day and the current status of the investigation.

Congressman Harris told our news department that the Secret Service was understaffed that day, and if it had been the other way around, the story would have been different.

“We need to find out why there was this shortage of personnel,” said Congressman Harris. “If they had sufficient personnel, they would have expanded the sanctuary, and that sanctuary would have been under Secret Service protection, not under local police protection.”

Members of Congress are continuing their investigation into the events of that day. Their new task force will consist of seven Republicans and six Democrats.
