Interesting bodycam footage from US Senator John Fetterman’s car crash last month in Maryland

July 26 – Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman was involved in a car accident in Maryland last month.

On June 9, Fetterman allegedly “flew” on the highway when he crashed into another vehicle.

The bodycam footage was requested from a local television station and can be heard from witnesses describing the incident and the police’s decision to let him go.

Pat Ryan of NewsTalk 103.7FM added: “Then we have another thing where they want to take a photo with him. These Maryland cops have a tingle in their leg, they want a photo with Fetterman. He has a lot of lead-foot incidents here. Take away this guy’s license? He gets paid pretty well. I’m sure there are drivers for all these kings and queens that are lawmakers in DC.”

Attorney Clint Barkdoll said, “In fairness, there was a station in Maryland that actually aired this maybe a week or two ago, but it’s good that WGAL is airing it now, too. We know these guys all have drivers and staff, and I always thought it was odd that he drove himself. This is not a criticism of him, but it just seems odd to me. This was on a Sunday morning. He was driving from DC back to Braddock. I think his wife was with him. It was their anniversary, and this video – I remember when the Maryland station showed this – was interesting on one hand that Fetterman never identified who he was. He didn’t say, ‘Hey, do you know who I am?’ Or ‘I’m a U.S. Senator,’ but these police officers recognized him and said, ‘Hey, aren’t you that senator, that big guy from Pennsylvania?’ And he confirmed that it was him. Totally inadmissible. So I think the video says we had to take a picture with him. Whether they did that or not, I don’t know.”

Ryan said, “They’re giggling about it in the police car, listening to some rock music, going back and forth about whether or not we should charge him. Here you have an accident right in front of your eyes. I’m shocked at these guys. Even outside of the Maryland State Trooper leadership, it’s awfully quiet. Well, the place is closed and there’s nothing left to see here. I don’t believe it, guys.”

Barkdoll said, “I’m surprised no charges were filed. Remember, it wasn’t just speeding. He collided with another car. That woman was a lady in her 60s as I recall and there’s probably an insurance claim pending as well, but I’m surprised no charges were filed for speeding and/or anything related to causing the accident. But at this point he’s not going to be charged.”

Ryan asked, “Who are you calling? What makes you think you’re not charging him? If you have a witness who says he was flying, then you clearly have someone who was hit. You could run a report saying what the impact was like. You could run a speeding report, and he has a history of speeding. There’s nothing to see here. Really? Are you better than the rest of us? I think so.”

Michele Jansen of NewsTalk 103.7FM stressed: “He’s part of the elite. He’s part of the elite on the right side of the aisle. When you’re part of the elite on the wrong side of the aisle, like Donald Trump or many other people who have been more than scrutinized for so-called violations of the law, you really see a clear difference.”

Barkdoll said: “It’s completely up to the discretion of the police officers whether or not to press charges. There could be an argument about the speeding, if the police didn’t notice them, they can’t press charges. But the accident would certainly be an aspect of the case that could lead to charges, but for some reason they didn’t.”

Ryan insisted, “Doesn’t it look good that the Maryland State Police are getting a little tickled in your area of expertise because of John Fetterman?”
