Consumer warning for sushi restaurant in downtown Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A downtown Pittsburgh sushi restaurant was issued a consumer alert following an inspection.

The Allegheny County Health Department issued a consumer alert for No. 1 Sushi Sushi following an inspection on Thursday.

According to the inspection report, there were several defective coolers. “The cooling capacity is not sufficient for safe operation,” the report states.

The inspector said packaged salmon, white fish and romaine lettuce had to be thrown away because the temperatures were not low enough.

The report also points out that while there are ten seats for customers, there are no public toilets.

Violations related to food storage temperatures are classified as medium risk, meaning they are hazards that may increase the risk of foodborne illness or injury.

The health authority issues a consumer alert when a food establishment fails to meet minimum food safety standards and may therefore pose a risk to public health.

When the consumer alert is lifted, the health department’s website will be updated.
