There may be some rain today and over the weekend

Happy Friday afternoon everyone. Temperatures will remain warm in the Ozarks this last weekend of July. However, things will be a little unsettled this weekend as a stationary front is stuck over Missouri and a low pressure system is forming in Arkansas. This will bring scattered showers this afternoon and a few thunderstorms in some parts of the Ozarks.

After a dry period in the evening, the low pressure system will move over us on Saturday. The forecast therefore calls for predominantly cloudy skies, with additional chances of rain and thunderstorms from Saturday morning through the day.

Despite this chance of rain and some more rain on Sunday, rainfall amounts should remain under half an inch across much of the Ozarks. Once we reach Monday and the middle of next week, the returning upper ridge will bring summer heat and humidity back to the Ozarks.

Today, with dry weather and partly sunny skies, temperatures will rise for many to between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius.

The return of humidity with this upper ridge also leads to a return of heat index values.

If these levels remain under control over the weekend, you can expect heat index values between 100° and 108° starting next Tuesday.
