Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King talk about their sexuality

Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King finally put an end to the rumors about their sexuality and their friendship.

Although it’s been a topic that has sparked a lot of conversation, Winfrey and King addressed the rumors in a recent interview with Melinda Gates for her series “Moments That Make Us.” “You know, for years, people always said we were gay, and listen, we always had to fight back. And people may still think so,” Winfrey told Gates.

Winfrey also shared that the rumors about her relationship with King started because people weren’t used to seeing “women with a real connection.” “The reason our friendship has worked, I think, is because Gayle is happier — not happy, but happier for me about any kind of success or victory or challenge that I overcome than I am for myself. And I feel just as happy as she is — I can’t be happier than Gayle, I can’t outdo her. You can’t outdo her. I’m just as happy for her.”

King added: “I always told Oprah, ‘You need to do a show about this because it’s hard enough for me to get a date on Saturday night when people think we’re gay.’ Because if we were gay, we’d tell you!” She continued: “I just assumed everyone had a really good friend.”
