Flood warning in effect, wet situation to continue for several days

HOUSTON (KIAH) – A flood watch is in effect for Houston and Southeast Texas through Wednesday night as torrential rains could cause localized flooding. That means some neighborhoods could get a few inches of rain in about an hour, which could cause street flooding and creeks to rise.

More widespread rain will approach the Gulf late Wednesday night through Thursday. Scattered rain is still expected Friday and this weekend.

Over the next five days, precipitation will average more south and east of Houston, where NOAA is predicting 3 to 5 inches of precipitation. Average precipitation will be slightly lighter, 1 to 2 inches, north and west of Houston.

During the wet period, temperatures will remain below 32°C. A new weather pattern will emerge next week with less rain and more heat.
