John Grothe and his family started their business in 2017 with a food truck, before deciding to open a brick-and-mortar location in Danville in 2020 during the pandemic.

The Grothe family is originally from Buffalo, New York, and wanted to bring a taste of New York with them through their food and the creativity of their business name. 716 is the area code for Buffalo, New York, so they decided to go with “716 Wings” which is similar to Buffalo Wings, one of the many types of wings offered on the restaurant’s menu.

For the past four years, they have been nominated for the best chicken wings in Danville. They also have the largest variety of dishes on their menu in the city. The restaurant also has the largest delivery radius, delivering to Chatham, Ringgold, and Yanceyville in North Carolina.

716 Wings serves everything from pizza, chicken tenders and wings to refreshing sandwiches, wraps and salads. The menu features unique dishes like the Buffalonian, a Buffalo pepperoni pizza, or the Teriyaki sandwich or wrap with lemon pepper-seasoned grilled chicken and fresh toppings.

The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating, with occasional live music outside.
