Willow Springs man arrested for shooting three times at a neighbor’s vehicle

A man was arrested on Friday May 3rdapproxafter firing a handgun at a neighbor’s vehicle.

According to the affidavit in the case, Willow Springs PD’s Paden Turnbull responded to a shot fired at a residence near Business 60/63 shortly before 7 p.m. that day. Upon arrival, the victims, two adults with seven children, were located, as well as the suspect, identified as Hershell Meshell, 60 of Willow Springs.

While drunk, Meshell shot three times at the victim’s vehicle, a Ford Explorer, with a .40-caliber handgun. When the weapon was confiscated, it was discovered that the firearm’s serial numbers had been worn off.

In addition, Meshell had admitted during the arrest that he was a danger to himself and others and stated that he wanted to remain in prison.

Meshell was taken into custody and is being held on $100,000 bond. Arrest charges include armed criminal action and discharging a firearm at a motor vehicle or person.
