Two middle school students suspected of carrying weapons on campus arrested in Northridge – Daily News

Two students suspected of possessing handguns on the Northridge Middle School campus were arrested last week, according to school officials and a media report.

School officials received a report of students in possession of handguns on Friday, May 3, and notified authorities, a Los Angeles Unified spokesperson said in a message to families. The handguns were found during a search of the campus.

“As a reminder, students should not bring dangerous items or other prohibited items to school, including items that resemble or may imitate a dangerous item,” the statement said. “This is an opportunity for parents and guardians to discuss with their children the importance of using good judgment and avoiding dangerous activities.”

The Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles School Police Department did not say how many students were involved and did not provide information about the handguns, including whether they were replicas or whether they were loaded.

Fox 11, citing an unnamed source, reported that two boys were arrested on suspicion of carrying a 9mm ghost pistol and a 9mm Glock.

On Monday, students were provided with additional police patrols and support on campus.
