Yemassee builds $2 million state-of-the-art police headquarters

The City of Yemassee will soon join the City of Estill in building modern, state-of-the-art law enforcement facilities.

The new Yemassee Police Department will be funded largely by a $2 million state grant appropriated by the Hampton County Legislative Delegation, Yemassee Police Chief Greg Alexander said.

“This is a blessing to the citizens of Yemassee because we don’t have to raise taxes,” Alexander said. “This facility gives us something to be proud of and helps boost the morale of the department.”

The new police headquarters will be located on the same municipal campus, but directly behind the Yemassee EMS base.
