Person dies in back seat of police car in Sacramento; avoid area

(FOX40.COM) — Sacramento police say a man is dead after he was arrested and placed in the back seat of a police car in Del Paso Heights on Monday.

At around 4:30 p.m., the SPD responded to Jasmine Street after the man’s family applied for a welfare check. Upon arrival, police said the man was armed with a knife. He was subsequently arrested and placed in the back of a patrol car, where he was later found dead, according to the SPD. Details of his death are unclear.

As of 9:45 p.m. the area remains cordoned off and there is a strong police presence on site.
