Man arrested for kidnapping, rape and murder of four-year-old girl

On July 23, authorities arrested a man from Goripalya on charges of kidnapping and raping his four-year-old relative. On July 20, he dumped her body on the roadside at Thippagondanahalli in Magadi police station area of ​​Ramanagara district. The accused was identified as 34-year-old Irfan Khan from Kengeri, who works as a labourer in Kalasipalya, Bengaluru. He used to visit the victim’s house frequently.

Irfan Khan allegedly took her away after visiting her and promising her an ice cream. The crime was committed near Old Masjid Mohalla Road in Magadi Town police station area of ​​Ramanagara. Her partially naked body was dumped near some bushes on Tippagondanahalli Road.

The parents started searching for their missing child when she returned home in the evening and found that the assailant had been seen with her in a shop. He feigned ignorance and later switched off his phone when the minor’s family called him. They then informed the police, who filed a missing person report. The police also obtained the CCTV footage and followed technical clues, following which they found the girl driving along Thippagondahalli Road with the assailant. They also learned about her body on the roadside.

Police then conducted a search and recovered her body. They also found Irfan Khan, who had gone into hiding. According to the postmortem, she was sexually assaulted, a police official said. He was a habitual offender and had been arrested for pickpocketing in the past. The authorities, acting on the complaint of the girl’s father, have filed a case against the offender for kidnapping and murder. The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has also been applied against him. The case is currently under investigation.
