Man rapes and kills 4-year-old relative near Bengaluru, arrested – India News

A 34-year-old man was arrested by Karnataka police on Tuesday for allegedly raping and killing a four-year-old girl near Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The accused lured the girl, a distant relative, with the promise of getting her ice cream before raping and killing her on Saturday, a police official said, The Indian Express reported.

The incident came to light when the victim’s mother searched for the girl until Saturday evening. After consulting several people in the neighborhood, she learned that her daughter had last been seen with the accused. When she called the accused, he evaded questions and switched off his cell phone.

The accused, identified as Irfan Khan, dumped her body on the roadside at Thippagondanahalli under the jurisdiction of Magadi police station in Ramanagara district.

Police were informed that they had found her body on the roadside. After following CCTV footage and other technical clues, police arrested the accused from Kalasipalya in Bengaluru, IE reported.

A police official said the accused used to visit the victim’s residence frequently. He worked as a daily wage labourer and was arrested earlier for pickpocketing. Police booked him for kidnapping and murder. They also filed charges under the Prevention of Sexual Offences Against Children (Pocso) Act.
