Denton City Prison Guard Allegedly Sexually Harassed Former Inmate While Driving to Her Car

Miguel Mederos (Denton County Jail)

A Denton city prison guard was arrested after he offered an inmate a ride and then sexually assaulted her, according to police.

According to police, the female victim filed the report on July 17, but the incident occurred on January 2, 2023.

The woman told police she had just been released from the Denton City Jail when 22-year-old prison guard Miguel Mederos offered her a ride to her car.

After she accepted his offer and got into his vehicle, the woman told police that Mederos made several sexual innuendos toward her during the drive. She says he also made additional sexual advances to her via text message that night.

After the woman filed the report earlier this month, Denton police placed Mederos on leave.

During the investigation, police found that Mederos “under the pretext of his office or employment, intentionally sexually harassed the victim by demanding sexual favors.”

Mederos was fired on Tuesday and arrested for abuse of office. He had worked for the department since June 2022.

Mederos is being held in the Denton County Jail on $2,500 bail.
