Four airports cease operations due to bad weather

  • Vigan Airport (light rain and moderate to strong winds)
  • Lingayen Airport (light to moderate rainfall, apron and parts of the runway flooded)
  • San Fernando Airport (light to moderate rainfall)
  • Baguio Airport (moderate rain and fog)

The following airports have now partially ceased operations or cancelled individual flights:

  • Basco Airport (only flight operations are suspended)
  • San Jose Airport (Today only one flight was planned, but it was cancelled)
  • Iba Airport (General Aviation training flights are suspended)
  • Sangley Airport (Cessation of flights due to flooding on the runway and apron)

  • Tacloban Airport (one cancelled flight on Tuesday and four delayed flights on Wednesday)

  • Lubang Airport (no general flight operations)

  • Palanan Airport (operations currently resumed with one flight: Palanan-Cauayan)

  • Laoag International Airport (Visual Flight Rules operations suspended)

  • Cauayan Airport (Two flights canceled, but commercial flights to coastal areas have resumed)

  • Tuguegarao Airport (Four flights cancelled)

Below are other airports that are operating normally or have no cancelled flights:

  • Bicol International Airport
  • GenSan Airport
  • Davao International Airport
  • Pagadian Airport
  • Zamboanga International Airport
  • Dipolog Airport

CAAP said its staff were “on high alert to ensure the safety and assistance of all passengers during this time.”

According to the 5 a.m. bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, Carina was last spotted about 290 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. It was moving northwest at 25 kilometers per hour (kph), with maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 190 km/h.

It also strengthened the southwest monsoon or “Habagat,” which is expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall to western Luzon from Wednesday to Friday.
